Advance Polls Open Tomorrow
With the provincial election now over - except the counting of mail in ballots - attention now turns to the civic and school division elections as advance polls open tomorrow.
All advance polls are at City Hall.
For those who are voting in the advance polls the hours are as follows:
10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020
12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020
10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2020
This year though due to the COVID - 19 pandemic the polls will not be located in the lobby area of City Hall but rather in the Council chambers.
Additionally much of the advance poll voting will be during the day time so if you need to use transit it is available although it will NOT be free. For those who are unable to access the regular polling stations located at the Moose Jaw Exhibition and Church of Our Lady this may be a better option to take advantage of.in order to vote.
This election the advance polls have longer hours of operation versus 2016.
On election day, November 9th, transit is free to allow people to vote. The regular transit schedule is in effect.
Council chambers are located on the second floor of City Hall. In order to access the second floor voters must take the elevator as the stairwell is closed to the general public once again this closure is due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Voters will enter Council chambers from the south side of the Council chambers. Follow the arrows and the markings on the floor to ensure proper phsical distancing.
Masks are not required but voters are asked to be respectful of others and ensure they maintain proper physical distancing - a minimum of six feet between themselves and others . Wearing a mask is recommended though.
For those wanting to speed up the process the voters registration form may be filled out in advance. The form MUST be printed on paper as it must be retained in case of a potential recount. The form is available on the City’s election page which is located by clicking here.
For those without a printer the forms will be available at the polls.
Identification is required to vote. Photo ID such as your Saskatchewan drivers license may be used but those without this may use two pieces of ID which must show their address. Utility bills along with another piece of ID will work.
Any type of acceptable ID used in the provincial election will work for the municipal and school board elections.
Election day is November 9th. On election day the regular polls will be at Church Of Our Lady for South Hill while the remainder of the city will vote at the Moose Jaw Exhibition only.
