Scammers Potentially Targeting Tax Tardy Property Owners

For some the property tax rate in Moose Jaw is downright criminal while for the real crooks out there unpaid property taxes are now apparently part of a potential scam.

In a press release the City is warning about a potential phone scam where residents have reported being phoned by unknown individual(s) about unpaid property taxes with the caller(s) claiming they represent the City and will be around to collect the unpaid taxes.

The City would like to remind residents that they do not personally visit homes to collect any back taxes owing.

Anyone receiving this type of call is asked to call 306 694-4400 and report it. The Moose Jaw Police Services has been alerted about this apparent illegal activity.
