In some positive news about the City and it's employees, a pair of City of Moose Jaw workers were recognized by the Saskatchewan Public Works Association (SPWA) on Wednesday, February 28.
The SPWA is holding their 59th annual conference at Mosaic Place, and during their annual awards ceremony they honoured Josh Mickleborough, the Director of Engineering, and Staci Dobrescu, the Public Works Supervisor with awards.
Mickleborough was given the Professional Manager of the Year Award for Administrative Management and Dobrescu, who is also on the board of the SPWA, was given the Harry S. Swearingen Award
In regards to Mickelborough, the SPWA said “This award seeks to recognize outstanding achievement in the area of administration within the public works department and to inspire excellence and dedication in the public sector by recognizing the outstanding career service achievements of administrative professionals.”
And according to our own City Council reporter at MJ Independent, Robert Thomas, "Mickelborough works wonders".
In regards to Dobrescu, the SPWA said, “Established in 1958 to perpetuate the memory of Harry Seller Swearingen (1900-1957) who worked untiringly on behalf of APWA (American Public Works Association, of which SPWA is an umbrella organization) and its purposes. This award recognizes outstanding individual achievement in support of the Association’s strategic plan, goals and objectives, as well as outstanding service to APWA as a public or private sector
member at the chapter level.”
Not bad, eh?
The SPWA annual conference concluded March 1, 2018.
