Moose Jaw Duo, The Faps, to Open for Insane Clown Posse

On June 22nd, O'Brians Event Centre, a concert theatre in downtown Saskatoon, uploaded an interesting tidbit of information to their Facebook page in regards to an upcoming show.
"Tickets have been FLYING off the shelf today!" it read. "We have received loads of inquiries for an opening spot for this show, and we will be announcing touring support artists shortly! However, we love seeing support for all the great local talent we have in #yxe. We decided to make room on the bill for ONE of your favourite local acts to be added to the night!"
All O'Brians Event Centre asked was for people to tag local bands they'd like to see share a stage with Insane Clown Posse and the most popular selections would be considered for the spot.
Insane Clown Posse, for those unaware, is an eccentric hip hop duo from Detroit known for their horror-themed, violent, politically incorrect music and dressing like psychopathic, killer clowns. The band was incredibly popular in the 90's and even did a stint wrestling in the WWE. They also created the "Juggalo" craze, which led to disenfranchised youth also dressing as psychopathic, killer clowns.
The band continues producing music to this day.
Shortly after the Facebook post hit the internet two front-runners emerged. One of them was a rapper from Prince Albert named Joey Fresh and the other was a strange punk duo that grew up in Moose Jaw called The Faps. Ultimately, the Faps had the most votes, with over 2,500. Joey Fresh led for much of the race but fell a couple hundred votes short. The next closest contender was a group called K.I.A. who only had 182 votes.
The Faps are made up of Skyler Cafferata (who sings and plays guitar) and Blair Colwell (who plays drums).
It was clear that both Joey Fresh and the Faps had fans that really wanted to see them play with Insane Clown Posse. O'Brians Event Centre ended up rewarding both of them with a spot on the bill.
"We were totally surprised at how quickly it took off" Blair Colwell, drummer for the Faps said. "I think we expected our fan base to vote and forget about it, but they shared and posted every day. I guess people really want this to happen. There’s something about our ill-fitting punk rock on stage in front of ICP fans that’s just wildly amusing".
As of yet, It's uncertain how much time will be allotted to the Faps.
"We don’t know how long the set is, just that we’re “main support” so it could be an hour? 45? Maybe we get pelted with so many Faygo cans that we only get through half a song" Colwell said.
Insane Clown Posse, like the Faps, are known for strange stage antics. One of which involves spraying Faygo, a soda brand that originated in Detroit, on people.
"We do something different for every show, or at least try to. So far we have some juggalo strippers, natural and artificial bodily fluids, bible studies, and a possible murder mystery " he said, adding. "We also have some awesome guest musicians lined up to help fill out the sound, including some from the MJ area."
The Faps have released multiple EPs before, but in 2018 released their debut full length album, Grimelda. You can hear it here: Faps - Grimelda
The show takes place on August 20th.
