Today we look at Tharadevi (Thara) Maharaj whose love of teaching and helping others saw her become a teacher in Apartheid South Africa, witness the violent partitioning of India, raise two children as a single mother after her husband’s passing.
After moving to Moose Jaw Thara found her South African teaching certificates not honoured so she had to attend classes here in order to teach.
She was a school teacher in Moose Jaw for a number of years.
After her retirement she spent countless volunteer hours helping others who were taking an immigration journey
