The Return Of Mister Magic
By Robert Thomas
Now you see them. Now you don’t. It is all slight of hand.
Although the tricks of the trade are distraction Moose Jaw’s own version of David Copperfield or Magic By Chris is back for his second year at the Moose Jaw Hometown Fair. And no he hasn’t disappeared.
A self taught magician Chris says he has escaped the initial fears of approaching people to perform magic for over the last year.
And he is open to put on impromptu family friendly magic shows for anyone on the grounds - whether it be a 15 minute or a couple of moments.

“I’m here doing walk around magic,” Chris told MJ Independent as he took a break on Thursday afternoon.
In his second year performing walk around or roving magic Chris has picked up added experience and confidence in the hardest type of magic to perform - approaching or being approached by a stranger to put on an impromptu street show.
“Last year it was really good just going out and catching people before they go on rides so it’s kind of nice to be the entertainment,” he said.

Last year was a confidence builder for Chris.
“I learnt the biggest part is approaching people. It’s kind of finding the right thing to do , it’s kind of the ice breaker. You know finding that thing to getting going makes it a lot easier the next time.”
Chris is more accustomed to performing shows on stage or the dozens of birthday parties and other events he performs annually.
He has a wide variety of mobile magic he can perform.

“I can perform a couple of minutes while they wait to get on a ride,” he said.
To find Chris he is easily recognizable in his flashy multi-colour clothes and his massive glasses wandering the Midway.
All a person has to do is approach Chris as he roams the Midway and ask to see some magic.

Although a self taught magician his seemingly simplistic act is a crowd pleaser as his audience - big or small - tries to figure out how Chris pulled off the trick.
Chris’s roaming magic show at the Fair is always free.
Inside the Convention Centre, out on the Midway, waiting to watch other entertainment simply approach him.
