♥️Sweet little “Sweetie” - Welcome to her journey…..
This week we carry a guest column about a feral cat who spent 10 years living under a trailer and SCRAPS - MJ efforts to save this senior cat's life.
Its a story about trying to save a life rather than euthanize…
Submitted by SCRAPS - MJ
Finally, life for this abandoned senior Cat is looking up.
After spending 10 years, living under a trailer and surviving with the support of a caring individual, Sweetie was rescued and brought into SCRAPS care.
Then the discovery of a large ominous tumor on her leg & the difficult choice that had to be made….
💔remove the tumor and have it likely grow back & spread to other areas.
This would also have a high incidence of complications and likely a very difficult and painful wound healing process.
💔provide palliative care and let Sweetie live her best life for how long that would be.
💔amputate the affected leg, remove the tumor and hope that would give Sweetie many happy years ahead free from the disease.
💔Euthanize ……
After careful, informed (and very emotional) deliberation, SCRAPS has decided to give Sweetie the best chance at the best life possible….Sweetie will be having surgery to remove her leg (along with the very large tumor) later this week.
Sweetie is about 14 years old.
But besides the large tumor her vet exam reveals that she is generally quite healthy.
Did we say she is the most wonderful, gentle, friendly little cat and very agile?
Sweetie has struggled to survive for years outside and now that she has been rescued and brought into safety, care and love we believe she needs and deserves a chance!
SCRAPS provides intense, individualized care for every Cat/kitten coming into our care.
There are no guarantees in life but we sincerely believe that Sweetie deserves this chance and are hopeful for a very good outcome!
In the meantime, little Sweetie is happily absorbing all the wonderful, loving care her foster mama is giving as well as the visits from other members of our SCRAPS team.
She is definitely loving the attention and LOVES absolutely everyone!
A sincere THANK YOU to all those who have show compassion and love for this little cat and generously sent financial support for her surgery.
