Second Line Brass Band To Entertain At Highway To Heroes Car Show

The mobile music of Second Line Brass Band will entertain vehicle owners and spectators alike at the Highway to Heroes car show being held Saturday, July 16 at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds.

The six-piece band, part of the RCAF music program in Winnipeg, features saxophone, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, banjo and drum. The band will wander among the cars from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Additionally an indoor concert will be presented inside the Moose Jaw Exhibition Convention Centre featuring the 12 piece band Jet Stream.

The concerts will run from noon - 12:45 pm and 2:45 pm - 3:30 pm.

Jet Stream appeals to all ages, playing a variety of rock, pop, country and disco.

Admission, which includes all car show activities, is $10 for adults; $5 for children six to 12 years; and free for pre-school age.

Car show gates open at 8:30 a.m. and the spectator gate opens at 10 a.m.

The last time the Highway To Heroes Car Show was held, in 2018, at 15 Wing Moose Jaw 500 cars were entered and 8,000 spectators took in the show.

The car show is sponsored by Friends of the Forces Fellowship.

Friends Of The Forces Fellowship (formerly known as 15 Wing Fellowship) is a local group which has local projects which have an emphasis on military families and veterans.

Close to $120,000 raised from past shows has been donated to various projects including the Moose Jaw Military Family Resource Centre, cadet organizations, Stars Ambulance, Moose Jaw Health Foundation, Wounded Warriors, Quilts of Valour, Support Our Troops, Make a Wish Foundation, Moose Jaw Transition House, Moose Jaw Food Bank, school scholarships, Remembrance Day observances and Salvation Army toy drives.
