Visit Moose Jaw Wants Residents To Paint City Red And White

Visit Moose Jaw, a local events promotion group, would like to see Moose Jaw painted Red and White next week as between 500 and 600 people will swoop into the city for the 50th Reunion of the aerial demonstration team.

In a Friday afternoon press release Mayor Clive Tolley announced the initiative and invited businesses, schools and homeowners to don their buildings with red and white for the reunion.

The Snowbirds reunion runs October 20 - 23 and will see events happening at the Western Development Museum. A full list of events was announced at a restricted media event on Thursday.

“The City thanks Visit Moose Jaw for launching the ‘red and white’ initiative,” said Clive Tolley, Moose Jaw Mayor said in a statement.

“We ask all Moose Javians to participate so we can show the entire Snowbirds team, past and present, just how much we appreciate the positive impact they have had on the City of Moose Jaw since their inception. The Snowbirds are one of Canada’s most recognizable icons and they are a primary reason Moose Jaw stands out as Canada’s Most Notorious City.”

The red and white campaign was first announced at the Highway To Heroes Car Show sponsor/volunteer appreciation evening on Wednesday.

As part of the festivities the City of Moose Jaw is a gold level sponsor providing free transit transportation to attendees between venues.

The reunion was to have been held two years ago but had to be cancelled due to the COVID - 19 pandemic.
