Popular Local Calendar Returns For Another Year
If you ever wanted to help out the Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre or want a really stylish locally produced wall calendar well now is the time to do so.
Recently released the 2022 Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre calendar has photos of all of the owl inhabitants along with two Richardson ground squirrels (commonly known as gophers) who call the interpretive centre home.
“The calendar is to raise funds for the Burrowing Owl Centre,” George Fowler, general manager of the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company said. The Burrowing Owl Centre is located at the Exhibition Grounds - 250 Thatcher Drive East.
“We have offered the calendar for quite a few years and every year they sell out,” Fowler said. If they do reach a sellout and there is sufficient demand they can also print more calendars so everyone who wants one can have one.
“They are pictures of our owls and two Richardson ground squirrels that live at the centre. They (the ground squirrels or gophers) are rescue gophers from a local animal rescue that cannot be released bck into the wild,” he said.
About the popularity of the annual calendar Fowler said they are a popular and a hot item with people looking for them about the third week of November.
There are two ways to get a calendar and that is by purchasing them for $20 or if through the Adopt An Owl project. For everyone who contributed to the Adopt An Owl project receive a calendar for free as part of their sponsorship.
The cost of Adopting An Owl is $50 for six months, $100 for a year or $175 for two years.
All proceeds, less the printing cost, go to the Burrowing Owl Centre 100 percent and assist in the care, breeding program as well as public relations program the Centre operates.
