Virtual Forums To Be Held About Newcomer Immigration

If you work with Newcomers in the region the Prairie Skies Integration Network (PSIN) would like you to participate in a forum this Monday at 1:30 pm.

The forum is part of PSIN’s efforts to enhance newcomer integration through virtual forums in the month of November.

At the two forums - one for those who work with Newcomers as well as one for Newcomers who were born outside of Canada (abroad) - participants will learn about how they can assist researchers who are conducting studies about welcoming Newcomers in South-Central Saskatchewan (Moose Jaw, Gravelbourg, Assiniboia, Davidson, etc.).

The forum for Newcomers will take place on November 22 at 6 pm.

Participants in the two on-line forums in November will find out how they can participate in focus groups and surveys taking place in the near future.

The following studies are underway and each research team will share about their project at the forums:

• Immigrant Settlement and Community-Newcomer Integration in South-Central Saskatchewan

• Accessing and Navigating the Saskatchewan Healthcare System: Lived experiences of Newcomers to Canada

• Place Matters: Building Welcoming Communities in Small and Medium-Sized Canadian Cities through the Lived Experiences of Immigrants, Refugees, and Foreign Workers

• Saskatchewan Attraction and Retention of Immigrants (SARI)

• Why Migrants Stay in Small and Mid-Sized Canadian Cities (WHYMS)

• Strategies for Poverty Reduction in Moose Jaw

Those who work, volunteer, or otherwise interact with immigrant newcomers are invited to join the session happening Monday, November 15th at 1:30 pm. Register here to attend.

Newcomers—anyone originally born outside Canada—are invited to join the forum on Monday Nov 22nd at 6:00 pm and can register here.

For the Newcomers Forum, Prairie Skies is hoping to provide language interpretation in a variety of languages, but this is unconfirmed currently.
