Please DONATE & support SCRAPS work with Community Cats.

The cost of a dollar in saving lives.....Did you know?.......

- SCRAPS is a registered non-profit organization

- we receive no funds from city or government sources

- we run entirely on volunteer generosity

- no wages paid!

- we work “upstream” to prevent generations of homeless kittens

- we reduce the numbers of animals entering shelters/ other rescues by “PREVENTION”

Think an $80 adoption fee is a bit expensive?

Look at our regular and already reduced costs....

- cost of a SPAY (with vaccine/tattoo/ deworm) - over $250

- cost of a NEUTER (with vaccine/tattoo/ deworm) - over $150

- did you know a kitten needs a 3 vaccine series (with deworm) - over $180

- frequent unexpected costs for amputations, surgeries, wounds occur Cats or kittens coming to us healthy - that’s great but not the norm!

Extra common medical/non medical costs include:

- eye/gastric issues common in homeless kittens (remember where they are rescued from)

- ear mite treatment

- special food/litter required for kittens

- special milk replacer for orphaned kittens commonly cared for by SCRAPS volunteers. Cost of endless hours/ sleepless nights not included.

- ongoing food/ shelter/ healthcare to colony Cats

Last year alone our costs included unexpected surgery for pins/wire for fractured leg, amputation of 6 week old kittens leg after a traumatic injury felt by vets to be of suspicious nature.

Abandoned and starving cat rescued with her head stuck in peanut butter jar, despondent, fearful Cat with scattered wounds, broken teeth and soul and then there was Bennji, a senior Cat from our oldest colonies, finally socialized and brought indoors only to find our care included compassion and love with her heartbreaking diagnosis of incurable cancer.

Bennjie ultimately passed away safe, cared for, comfortable and loved in the arms of one of our absolutely beautiful and extraordinary compassionate fosters who allowed her this greatest final gift.

These stories and faces will be shared on Facebook over the coming days honouring the generosity of our supporters in helping save these precious lives.

SCRAPS work with the fearful survivors of the abandoned and uncared for continues despite the challenges of the year of COVID.

Not all Cats are candidates for indoor lives and are best cared for in their outdoor homes. We do that too.

Thank you for your past support and ask you to please consider making a donation to improving the future for countless Cats.
