SCRAPS Tells The Story Of Angel

Submitted by SCRAPS - MJ

Where do all the Angels fly?

Angel’s story ~ a tiny new & precious life, eyes nearly open to see the beauty of the world around her - but not to be. A baby unable to see but she could surely feel. The gentle touches, the tenderness, the warmth but especially the love......

A newborn white kitten alone, cold, hungry, crying. Compassion & mercy of one person blending - Lives intertwining.

A dedicated and committed SCRAPS team working around the clock, 2 hour feeds, many sleepless nights offering a fragile kitten a chance - despite the odds.....

Days passing in a blur, tiny Angel’s deterioration so subtle, but so real. Focus on the fight - do all we humanly can. Giving up now not an option ......

Then came Hope! - In the form of a mother cat, rescued by SCRAPS from the streets with 6 kittens! Praying for a miracle - that Mamma would take on a new tiny mouth to feed & she did!

Overwhelming relief, tears of joy following days of perseverance, ongoing worry. Are we in time? Kitten ever so slowly placed with Mama, breaths held, hearts pounding.......without hesitation Mama looked at the tiny kitten and began to purr!

Then ever so gently, Mama began to bathe sweet Angel, then turning her far too experienced body into position to allow yet another kitten to nurse. Angel responded by snuggling in closer to the warmth and softness - contentment. Mama purred, looking into our eyes with contentment.

Then, heartbreak- Angel too weak now, no strength to suckle. A heartbreaking downward spiral so sudden and unexpected when all that so desperately needed had finally arrived.

Confusion in Mamas Cats eyes as we removed tiny Angel from under her protecting arm which she had so carefully had held against her crate so to not harm the tiny baby....

All possible resources exhausted - a beautiful & very tiny white Angel drifted off, eyes never having the opportunity to see. Angel never experienced sight but she could surely feel.... we know she could feel the LOVE that embraced her along with our final gift to her of a real mothers care.

Our hearts break with each & every loss & we are so thankful there are not many. Would we do it again you ask? Yes we would.

Special thanks to a very special lady Kalita who rescued a tiny newborn kitten because she believed the baby deserved a chance to live. She brought her to SCRAPS care.

Thank you also to compassionate SCRAPS volunteers as well as the MJ Animal Clinic team for working so hard to save yet another Angel.

Thank you to all those of you who support SCRAPS TNR program and those who take the responsibility in making sure your own Cats are spayed or neutered.

With your help we can continue to help prevent beautiful and vulnerable kittens like Angel from being born into the suffering of homelessness.
