Laughs About to Hit The Legion This Tuesday As Comics Invade

Moose Jaw is rapidly becoming known as the newest Happiest Place On Earth with a string of comedy events which have recently flooded into the city. And once again Moose Jaw is about to be hit with a tidal wave of laughs crashes into the city when The Human Condition Spring Comedy Tour hits town or at least the Legion.

The Human Condition Spring Comedy Tour will feature some well known and some not so well known rising Western Canadian comics who are hitting the road with their own stories and jokes in an attempt to spread the laughter and live their dreams.

Scott Porteous is the manager and leader of the tour which follows on the heels of a successful ten day tour last year.

“I have been doing comedy for 16 years but doing it well for the last two years,” said Porteous a Winnipeg native who now is a Calgary transplant who when he is not doing his day job is trying to break into the tough world of being a stand up comic.

Porteous, who freely admits he has never been a big name headliner, is no slouch to the comedy scene having put his skills to test and surviving some of the toughest crowds in infamous Yuks Yuks events as well as other appearances in smaller venues. He's performed at The Winnipeg Comedy Festival and can be heard on Sirius XM.

Accompanying Porteous on the tour will be a couple of up and coming comics who have managed to wrack up a couple of impressive awards in the comedy world.

Adam Mac is a top and up and coming comedian having been named one of the top 32 comedians at the Seattle International Comedy competition. A competition which draws thousands of competitors in the standup world.

Scott Bradford is the comedic toast of Red Deer Alberta and is known for being the comedy roast champion at Yuks Yuks. This is his first tour.

And since this is Moose Jaw there is a local component as local comedian Corey Rokosh is set to hit the local stage. Rokosh contacted Porteous asking to perform locally something he readily agreed to.

Porteous said the show is for an adult crowd but at the same time it is not going to be anything controversial or anything shocking as the tour is also not just about bringing out the laughs but also about raising awarenes of the local charities they have partnered with. In Moose Jaw the Tour is partnered with the Saskatchewan Festival of Words and a portion of the proceeds will be going to that group.

“Life happens and life isn’t always the cleanest,” Porteous says about the show.

Asked what he would like to accomplish on the Moose Jaw stop of the tour Portepous says it is to see Rokosh make people laugh.

“I would like to see Corey (Rokosh) destroy it. I have a feeling it will be amazing.”
