Individual Charged With Assault Following Brazen Noon Hour Incident

By Robert Thomas

It’s likely not something the tourism driven downtown wants publicized but for a couple of MJ Independent readers who witnessed it needs to stop

MJ Independent was told about a fight that allegedly happened at noon hour on Tuesday.

According to our readers the fight took place in front of the CIBC where the buses stop. The fight involved at least three people with the victim at one point on the ground and “having the boots laid into them.”

The Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) confirmed the incident took place but did not provide details to the altercation including the names of anyone charged.

“At approximately 12:58 pm, the Moose Jaw Police Service responded to a report of an altercation on the 200 block of Main Street North. As a result, one individual was charged with assault,” the MJPS wrote in response to an email inquiry.

Crime in the downtown has been a major issue over the last couple of years with call from within the community for the police service to become more proactive in fighting.
