Central Cyclones Senior Girls Battle For HOOPLA Berth

Photos and Story by Robert Thomas

The Central Cyckones senior girls basketball team are off to the provincial championship - HOOPLA - but it didn’t come easy as they faced North Battleford’s John Paul Ii Crusaders.

The 6th seed Crusaders were not about to go down silently but were up for battle as they faced the 3rd seed Cyclones.

The game saw the Cyclones increase their lead to eight points on numerous occasions only to have the Crusaders capitalize on Cyclones misses to crawl back within four points.

The Crusaders stole the momentum with less than four minutes left in the game and were closing in.

The play of the game was a steal by the Cyclones Shaylan Constable. The ball ended in the corner where somehow Constable saved it and got it back to a teammate.

The steal stopped not only a scoring attempt by the Crusaders but also gathered momentum to the Cyclones with three minutes left.
