U15 Mavericks Capture Gold At Moose Jaw Tournament

The Moose Jaw U15 Mavericks defeated the Delisle Bruins 3 - 2 to capture the gold medal in the U15 division at the Carpet One Classic Tournament on Sunday.
The tournament brought hundreds of female hockey players to Moose Jaw for three days.
A key play for the Mavericks was a penalty kill where they managed to ice the puck four times.

The Mavericks first goal came on the power play at 8:26 of the First Period when Evelyn Stokes stepped in and put in a shot high on the blocker side of Bruins net minder Ava Mason.
The assist went to Madeline Hopkinson.

The Mavericks would go up 2 - 0 early in the Second Period when Maria Umana scored from in close an unassisted goal at 19:20.
The Bruins would get on the scoreboard at 6:44 when Mavericks goaltender Charlotte McKee lost her stick.
McKee was unable to poke check the Bruins Monique Lignau who netted the goal. Assists went to Sierra Douglas and Peyton Douglas.
The Bruins tied the game on the powerplay at the 5:01 mark.
Braylin Domashovitz slid the puck along the ice on the blocker side into the goal.

The Mavericks Madeline Hopkinson managed to break down the ice a half step ahead of a Bruins defender.
Fighting off checks Hopkinson scored at 00:30 putting the puck past a sliding Bruins net minder.
There was no scoring in the Third Period with the Bruins pulling their goalie with 58 seconds to go for a sixth attacker.
