Canucks U18 AAs Have A Tough Go In Medicine Hat
The record might say 0 - 4 at a tournament this weekend in Medicine Hat but despite the winless weekend the Moose Jaw AA U18 team was still competitive.
Canucks 8 - Lakers 12
Struck By Lightning
In their first game in the Medicine Hat Knight UCT Baseball Tournament the Canucks at one time led the Lethbridge Legion Lakers 17U by four runs.
But it was a lead the Canucks could not hold.
The Legion Lakers would grab a four run lead and lightning in the area would shut the game down early not allowing the Canucks their last opportunity at the plate.
The Canucks struck first on a Carter Stewart single and RBI in the second inning.
The Legion Lakers would take the lead 3 - 1 in the top of the third inning.
A Spencer Craig single helped tie the game with a fourth inning single.
The Canucks would head out of the bottom of the fourth inning with a 6 - 3 lead.
With the Canucks in the lead an 8 run sixth inning sunk the Canucks making the score 12 - 8.
Lightning would appear in the sky and the baseball gods denied the Canucks an opportunity to have a bat in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Canucks 6 - Calgary 16U Premier Blues 9
As in their first game of the tournament against the Lethbridge Legion Lakers the Canucks found themselves up by four runs in the game only to end up losing the game.
The Canucks Ryder Hicks opened the scoring in the game off of a single and a Premier Blues error to score two runs for Moose Jaw.
Calgary had a flurry of five hits - a triple and four singles - that led to a five runs for the Premier Blues.
The Canucks would take a 6 - 5 lead in the top of the third inning.
Calgary would tie the game at 6 - 6 in the bottom of the third inning.
Ryder Hicks and Spencer Craig each drove in two RBIs while at bat in a losing effort.
Canucks 1 - Medicine Hat Knights 8
The Canucks worst showing of the tournament was a lopsided 8 - 1 loss to host Medicine Hat Knights.
Despite the lopsided win the Canucks were neck and neck with the Knight until late in the game.
Moose Jaw’s only run came off of the bat of Jesse Lesperance.
Lespersnce’s single in the fourth inning brought in a Canuck’s run.
It wasn’t until the fifth inning that the Knights grabbed a 3 - 1 lead.
The Knights never looked back scoring five more runs before the end of the game.
Canucks 7 - Twins 17
The Canucks were in tough company versus the Glacier Twins as the Moose Jaw team succumbed to a very strong opponent.
A Hudson Tallon single in the first in inning scored a run for the Canucks while Tryton Legate double added two more runs.
The Twins would take a 4 - 3 lead in the second inning.
The Canucks would fight back at their next opportunity at bat tying the game at 4 - 4.
In the bottom the third inning the Twins would take full control by scoring seven runs on four hits and a 12 - 5 lead.
The Glacier Twins would collect 12 hits and 10 stolen bases in their 17 - 7 victory.
