Three Moose Jaw High School Wrestlers Medal At Provincials

It’s been an intense couple of weeks for Moose Jaw high school wrestlers.

Despite the intense competition schedule the Peacock girls won the provincial team title.

Peacock Collegiate Akela Sand not only claimed the provincial games silver medal but won a team award.

Sand was joined in the team trophy win with Evelyn Eros . Individually Eros would place 4th at Provincials.

It was a tough road to Provincials.

First Moose Jaw’s high School wrestlers participated in the regional tournament in Rosetown on March 2nd in Rosetown.

Then the top four competitors from their weight classes advanced to provincials on March 8th and 9th at Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon.

Peacock Collegiate’s Kingston Usher would earn a silver medal in Saskatoon.

Regionals were held March 2nd in Rosetown. The top 4 competitors from each weight class would advance to Provincials and here are the Regionals results:

Female:

44kg   Paisley Patrosh Central 1st place

50kg   Eisa Tondevold Central 2nd place

60 kg  Macey Binsfeld Central 4th place

64 kg  Akela Sand Peacock 1st place

73 kg  Hailey Newans Central 1st place

90 kg  Evelyn Eros Peacock 1st place 

Male:

53 kg  Kaleb McCrystal Peacock 2nd place

56 kg  Kruz Babich Peacock 1st place

62 kg  Carson Mack Central did not place

65 kg  Liam Palmer Vanier 5th place

     Owen Cherney Vanier 6th place

77 kg  Kingston Usher Peacock 1st place

90 kg Mason Rusnak Peacock 5th place

      Eric Doney Peacock did not place

115 kg  Wyatt Behiel Vanier 1st place

In addition to all of these wins Peacock Boys won 4A Regional Team Gold  and Central Girls won 4A Regional Team Gold.


“We have some amazing young coaches who have come through the Moose Jaw Kinsmen High School   Wrestling Program and Arch Bishop O'Neil in Regina.  Their hard work and dedication to our athletes is what allows us to have such great success in the province,” a release stated.

The Club pointed a bright future for Moose Jaw wrestling.

“Devin Kiryk, Kianna Perron and Ethan LaRose are truly the future of wrestling in Moose Jaw and will ensure years of success for our athletes provincially,” they stated.
