By Robert Thomas

The Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) has charged 26 year old Tyler Cronan following a single vehicle rollover on Thursday November 7th.

The crash saw a 31 year old man die.

According to a released statement Cronan appeared in court on Tuesday charged with Impaired Driving Causing Death, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death, and Flight from Police.

The rollover occurred on November 7th after MJPS received a report of a motorist driving erratically.

An MJPS officer observed the vehicle travelling northbound on Main Street North at a high rate of speed at 11:49 pm. The vehicle then struck a meridian on the 1300 block of Main Street North causing the vehicle to rollover.

According to an eyewitness of the rollover who spoke to MJ Independent the northbound vehicle struck the meridian and rolled multiple times.

Eyewitnesses saw a female MJPS officer with her weapon drawn as one of the three vehicle occupants attempted to flee the scene.

Three MJPS vehicles were reported on the scene shortly after the crash.

According to an interim report by the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) at approximately 11:42 p.m., MJPS received a call reporting that a silver Honda was driving erratically and was chasing the caller's vehicle. The caller further reported that these events were preceded by a physical altercation.

At approximately 11:44 p.m., MJPS received a second call regarding the same vehicle.

At approximately 11:47 p.m., a member of MJPS operating a marked police vehicle observed the vehicle headed northbound on Main Street in Moose Jaw at what was indicated to be a high rate of speed.

The MJPS member turned to follow the vehicle northbound on Main Street with emergency equipment activated, and at approximately 11:48 p.m., radioed that the silver Honda had crashed on Main Street.

EMS was requested to attend, and one of the vehicle's passengers, a 31-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The other occupants of the vehicle, the driver and a second passenger, were conveyed to hospital for assessment and treatment.

Due to police involvement prior to the collision, SIRT was notified and is investigating the actions of Police during this incident.

The Moose Jaw Police Service is cooperating fully with SIRT and will have no further comment on their investigation.
