Traffic Blitz Results Announced

Hundreds of vehicles were stopped as part of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program blitz held July 12 and July 13 in Moose Jaw and area.

The massive annual traffic blitz (enforcement initiative) saw members of the Moose Jaw Police Service along with the Prince Albert CTSS, Saskatoon CTSS, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, Regina CTSS, RCMP Traffic Services in Estevan and Moose Jaw plus Caronport’s CSO participated in the traffic enforcement initiative.

Enforcement activities focused on offences related to impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, seatbelt use, unlicensed drivers and the vehicle equipment regulations.

In the two days over 440 vehicles were checked and the following enforcement took place with hundreds giving mandatory breath samples with an Alcohol Screening Device (ASD).

The breakdown of the blitz is as follows:

305 Mandatory ASD (Alcohol Screening Device) tests (304 Passed; 1 Warning)

1 Sotoxa test for THC (Negative)

1 Drager test (Positive for THC)

3 vehicles were impounded

117 tickets were issued, which included:

65 speeding tickets

3 seatbelt tickets

13 cell phone and distracted driving tickets

36 tickets for other TSA (Traffic Safety Act) offences

40 inspection tickets issued

97 warnings issued

As part of the blitz some drivers were given gift cards MJ Independent has learnt but no details on that portion of the blitz was released.
