This evening’s premiere matchup in the World Para Hockey Championships features the intense rivalry between Team Canada and Team USA.

And since this is the first time Team Canada has faced the United States team in the world championships on home soil the team would like to see a sea of hometown support at the game.

“I think first and foremost I encourage everyone to come out and see our sport,” Team Canada Tyler McGregor said when asked about what the team would like to see at tonight’s much anticipated match up.

“That’s when you see the speed, the physicality, and the intensity (of the game) and you grow an appreciation of it,” McGregor said.

The matchup between Team Canada and Team USA will pit the top two para hockey teams in the world against each other.

“I think you’re going to see the sport at its best tomorrow (Wednesday night - tonight) night. The top two countries in the world going head to head in Canada,”

“I think the momentum as we have gone through the week, you know it’s still early, from the fans, has just continued to grow.”

McGregor said hometown fans are one of the keys to Team Canada playing the tournament for the first time ever in Canada.

“We would love to see more people in the seats and even the fans that are here they are probably a reason why we came away with a win tonight.”

“For us it’s an energizer. The more people here (the more energy),” he said.
