Police Issue Phone Scam Alert
The Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) would like to alert the public to a phone scam happening in the community.
As part of the scam a “grandchild” phones their “granparent(s)” and stating they need lots of money right away.
The caller asks their “grandparent(s)” to withdraw money and the police will be contacting them.
Then a second caller calls the victim(s) impersonating a police officer.
The second caller - phony cop - then instructs the victim(s) to withdraw a large amount of money and await further instructions.
The scammers are active in the city at the present time and there has been numerous complaints to the MJPS.
The MJPS would like to remind people never divulge personal information to strangers over the telephone.
