Moose Jaw Minor Basketball Association Disbands

For children and parents who play basketball it is sad news as late today the Moose Jaw Minor Basketball Association (MJMBA) announced the organization was wrapping up operations.

In an announcement on their Facebook page (see below) the MJMBA Board of Directors wrote they “had made the difficult decision to disband our organization.”

The reason given for the group deciding to disband the organization was several board members were retiring at the end of the season and it was “decided this is the best time to move on.”

The Board thanked everyone - coaches, officials and past Board members - who had made the league possible.

They also thanked the Prairie South School Division for making the league possible by allowing access to school gymnasiums.

The Board also expressed confidence a new league would develop as other groups had expressed interest.

Within an hour of the Board announcing MJMBA's disbandonment Golden Ticket Sports - who took over the operations of the former Hillcrest Sports Centre and installed a state of the art hardwood court - announced they will be launching a league commencing this Fall.

“Running a league has many moving parts, many of which are not known to those in the general public. MJMBA has done a fantastic job in their time running youth basketball in our city,” Golden Ticket Sports said in their release.

Golden Ticket Sports said in their release they wished “to build off of the work done by MJMBA starting in the fall of 2023.”

“Golden Ticket Sports will be running a league, and programming to support the growth of the sport in the city of Moose Jaw,” the release saying more details would be forthcoming at a later time.
