What happened in the high school junior/JV girls volleyball playoffs?
Here is a synopsis of how the other four teams fared during the playoffs.
Additionally, at the bottom of the story, there is a brief breakdown of what happened in the junior varsity (JV) playoffs that took place at Riverview Collegiate.
Central Red
Central Red (seeded fourth) played in the first quarter final against Central Gold (seeded fifth).
Central Red defeated and eliminated from the playoffs their collegiate sister team Central Gold in two sets.
The set scores were:
Central Gold 13 - Central Red 25
Central Gold 19 - Central Red 25
Central Red then advanced to the semi finals they faced the Peacock Toilers Orange team.
Central Red was defeated by the Peacock Toilers Orange team in two sets.
Set scores were:
Central Red 21 - Peacock Orange 25
Central Red 18 - Peacock Orange 25
Peacock Toilers Orange then advance to the finals against the Vanier Spirits.
Peacock Green
Commonly referred as Peacock Toilers junior girls volleyball’s B team Peacock Toilers Green team was up against some tough competition on Wednesday evening.
The Peacock Toilers Green team (seeded sixth) were defeated in the quarterfinals and eliminated from further playoff action in two straight sets by the (third seed) Cornerstone Christian School Falcons (CCS).
The set scores were:
CCS 25 - Toilers Green 5
CCS 25 - Toilers Green 17
Central Gold
Central Gold (seeded fifth) played in the first quarter final against Central Red (seeded fourth).
Unfortunately for Central Gold they were defeated and eliminated from the playoffs by their collegiate sister team Central Red in two sets.
The set scores were:
Central Gold 13 - Central Red 25
Central Gold 19 - Central Red 25
Cornerstone Christian School (CCS) Falcons
The (third seeded) Falcons faced the (sixth seeded) Peacock Toilers Green in the quarter finals.
The Falcons defeated the Toilers Green team in to set to win the match and move onto the semi finals.
The set scores were:
CCS 25 - Toilers Green 5
CCS 25 - Toilers Green 17
In the semi finals the Falcons faced the (second seeded) Vanier Spirits.
The Spirits won two straight sets to defeat and eliminate the Royals from further playoff action.
Set scores were:
Spirits 25 - Falcons 22
Spirits 25 - Falcons 14
The Spirits then advanced to the finals versus the Toilers Orange team.
Junior Varsity (JV) Playoffs - Riverview Collegiate
Quarter final
The Riverview Collegiate Royals defeated the Notre Dame Hounds in two straight sets to win the match 2 - 0 and advance to the semi finals.
Set scores were:
Hounds 16 - Royals 25
Hounds 12 - Royals 25
Semi Finals
Rouleau defeated the Riverview Royals 2 - 0 in sets to win the match and advance to the finals.
Set scores were:
Rouleau 25 - Royals 8
Rouleau 25 - Royals 5
In the other semifinal Avonlea defeated the Central Butte Bulldogs with a 2 - 0 score.
Set scores were:
Avonlea 25 - Bulldogs 10
Avonlea 25 - Bulldogs 20
Finals
In the finals Rouleau defeated Avonlea in a tightly contested match which required three sets to decide the JV champion.
Set scores were:
Rouleau 25 - Avonlea 23
Rouleau 27 - Avonlea 25
Rouleau 15 - Avonlea 11
