Pensioner Pinched Possessing Stolen Gun

ACCUSED OUT ON A RELEASE ORDER AT THE TIME STOLEN FIREARM FOUND DURING A SEARCH - RELEASED ON CONDITIONS

On October 4, 2023 at approximately 11:48 a.m., members of the Moose Jaw Police Sevice’s Community Policing Division and the Criminal Investigation Section CIS executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1300 block of Hochelaga Street West.

As a result, Police were able to locate and seize a long-bareled fiream within the residence.

Police later discovered the seized fiream was previously repoted stolen.

A 72-year-old male is facing several fireams-related offences, which include the unsafe storage of a fiream, unauthoized possession of a firearm, possession of a fiream knowing its possession is unauthoized, possession of a fiream obtained by commission of offence, and a breach of a release order.

The male has been released with conditions and will make his first appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Cout at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released once they become available.
