You know.

I wasn’t too fond of the Warriors wearing these SpongeBob SquarePants uniforms, but if it meant playing the way they did on Saturday night, I’d be more than happy to see them rolled out again.

The Warriors weren’t wearing the colourful attire because they lost a bet, rather, they were running a fundraiser for the Jim Pattinson Children’s Hospital Foundation.

In town were the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds.

Seattle is a pretty solid team. They actually sport the best record in the WHL.

Their goaltending is so good that they can afford to use World Junior Gold Medallist Thomas Milic as a back-up because Scott Ratzlaff has been even better.

They’ve also got a Gold Medal winning defenceman in Kevin Korchinski.

For all that great goaltending they’ve got though, they sure weren’t saving pucks like Connor Ungar was though.

Your Moose Jaw Warriors came to play.

They didn’t wear those atrocious jerseys for nothing.

Despite being badly outshot in the first period, the tribe went to the dressing room with a solid 4-1 lead.

The Warriors play best when they create offense from their defence and that’s exactly how they opened the scoring.

Captain Denton Mateychuk set Josh Hoekstra up for his 5th goal of the season.

Eric Alarie got the second goal; finishing off a sequence of passes from Brayden Yager and Atley Calvert.

Alarie had another multi-point evening, assisting on a later goal as well.

Then Atley Calvert notched his 21st of the season, on a Power Play, shortly after.

With that goal Calvert tied Jagger Firkus for the team lead.

Interesting note: Calvert’s goal came on a Power Play as a result of a Too Many Men penalty.

The guy who served the penalty goes by the name of Tij Iginla. Tij Iginla is the son of NHL Hall-of-Famer Jarome Iginla.

Then, half a minute later, the Slovak Sensation, Robert “Bobzilla” Baco slammed home a rebound on a Logan Dowhaniuk shot.

That was Bobzilla’s first goal since returning from the World Juniors and his 7th of the season.

With a few minutes left, Jared Davidson did get one back for the T’Birds.

The action commenced in the second period with Ryder Korczak slinging a wrist shot past Ratzlaff for his 15th of the year.

Brayden Yager got one of his 4 assists on the play.

Gracyn Sawchyn scored one for Seattle shortly after.

Simply tying the scoring lead wasn’t enough for Atley Calvert; in the 10th minute he netted another one to take the team lead.

The red hot “Action” Calvert has scored six times in the last four games and he had just put the Moose Jaw Events Centre on Hat-Trick watch.

That goal was the final straw for the T’Birds coach Matt O’Dette, as he pulled Ratzlaff and gave the Moose Jaw faithful a little treat.

They could now watch the hometown team score some goals on a Gold Medallist.

Milic had other plans though. He saved every shot he faced. The Warriors were unable to add to the lead and Calvert was unable to secure the Hat-Trick.

Seattle wasn’t able to score either, so that’s a good thing.

The final score was 6-2 for Moose Jaw.

All in all it was an excellent victory for the Warriors as they walloped the top team in the league, giving them only their 5th loss of the season.

Yager, Calvert and Mateychuk were named the game’s Three Stars, in that order.

That’s cause for a little celebration.
