Pickleball Courts Official Opening On Sunday

The new pickleball courts are set to officially open this Sunday August 14th from 1 pm to 3 pm.

The six new City-owned courts costing $285,000 were built this year after being approved in the 2022 budget.

The new courts are located at the Kinsmen Sportsplex located at 855 MacDonald Street and have been open for use since August 11th . With plenty of free off street parking available.

During the official grand opening people are welcome to play pickleball for free with members of Pickleball Moose Jaw on hand to give instruction and teach the rules of the game.

Additionally there will also be games, prizes and the concession will be open.

Additionally the official opening will see Mayor Clive Tolley, members of Council and members of Pickleball Moose Jaw will be in attendance.

For those who would like to play pickleball there are opportunities to play for free:

  • Free Public Drop-In times are weekdays from 8-9am, 11am-2pm, 4-6pm and 8-9pm, along with weekends from 11am-5pm.

  • Public drop-in times are on a first-come, first serve basis. Bring your own equipment.

  • Other times are set aside exclusively for Pickleball Moose Jaw members with an Outdoor Court Pass.

Pickleball is an American game similar to tennis where players hit a perforated ball with small paddles making a unique sound. The sport was brought back to Moose Jaw and Canada likely by people who vacationed during the winter in the United States.
