Last Chance For Buffet Tickets To Help Support Ukrainian Refugees

If you are looking to enjoy some good Ukrainian food as well as support relief efforts to help civilians and those displaced by the on-going war in Ukraine then tomorrow night you can do both.

Tomorrow evening the City of Moose Jaw in association with Spectra Management are putting on a special Ukrainian supper with net proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.

The event will take place March 31st at 5:30 p.m. at Mosaic Place, with a second sitting possible based on demand. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the SaskTix Box Office at Mosaic Place or online with this link to SaskTix.

The meal will feature:- Borscht, cabbage rolls, perogies, Ukrainian Co-op sausage, honey babka, coffee and tea, with additional beverages available for purchase.

In a statement Mayor Clive Tolley said the event is being held after a group of Moose Jaw residents of Ukrainian descent approached the City and asked if there was something they could do to help Ukraine while it is under attack.

“The brutal invasion of Ukraine by Russia is a heartbreaking reminder of the atrocities many in the world are faced with,” said Clive Tolley, Mayor. “With this event we’re hoping to provide critical support to those affected by this conflict. Moose Jaw stands ready to welcome any Ukrainians seeking refuge from this tragic, unnecessary war.”

The Red Cross has set up assistance where they are able to in safe locations to provide immediate and continued assistance to refugees and people displaced because of the war. For further information on the Red Cross efforts here is a link.

All funds raised will enable the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement to respond to humanitarian needs generated by the current war and almost eight years of conflict in Ukraine.

The support could include preparedness, immediate and ongoing relief efforts, long-term recovery, resiliency, and other critical humanitarian activities as needs arise, both in Ukraine and surrounding countries, including supporting displaced populations.

At the present time there are over 4 million Ukrainian refugees in countries surrounding Ukraine as well as 11 million people displaced due to the violence.
