Warriors Scoring Woes Continue

Your Moose Jaw Warriors had a date with the East Division’s whipping boys, the Prince Albert Raiders, on Tuesday night.

Sadly it all ended in the Warriors losing 2 - 1 in what on paper should have been a sure win.

The club’s had met twice this season already and Moose Jaw had taken both of them, but they were both extremely close contests.

After an unimpressive home-and-home with the Medicine Hat Tigers, the hometown squad was in search of a little Medicine themselves; something to shake away these early season cobwebs and inconsistencies.

Lucas Brenton took one penalty early, and the team killed it.

But a second Brenton penalty, shortly after the first one expired, led to the Raiders opening salvo: Keaton Sorenson sniped his 9th of the season.

Too many penalties has been a problem for the Warriors all season, it was beginning to look like this match would be no different.

The Raiders added another goal shortly after that but it was reviewed and taken back, keeping the lead to just one.

Five minutes into period 3 Carson Latimer broke out, split the defence, netted a puck and put the Raiders up by a pair.

The Warriors got one back late in the second when Denton Mateychuk jammed home a Power Play goal. The goal was his fourth of the season.

But that was all the Warriors could wrangle up.

The Raiders defence was solid and stifling, blocking lanes and preventing the Warriors from getting quality shots on net.

The Warriors continue to have difficulties scoring even-strength goals and playing better hockey when the stakes get higher.

On a high note though, they kept out of the Penalty Box in the third.

Another bad loss for the tribe.

Alas, the Warriors will be back at The Hangar for a battle with the Swift Current Broncos on Friday Nov, 18.
