Halloween Howl Brings Four And Two Legged Buddies Together - Photo Essay

This past weekend the Moose Jaw Dog Club held their annual Halloween Howl dog agility competitions.

Over 70 dogs and their owners competed in the Agility Association of Canada (AAC) sanctioned show on both Saturday and Sunday. The dogs made 250 runs on each day.

In dog agility both dog and an accompanying human run an obstacle course with the human competitor using both voice and hand signals to have the dogs run the course successfully.

Dog sizes varied with jumps ranging from 4 inches to 24 inches depending on the size of the dog.

The event was well attended on Saturday with one long time club member stating that this was the largest turnout of people she did not recognize ever at one of Moose Jaw Dog Club’s events. The local dog agility community is small and everybody seems to know everybody else.

Spectators coming out to check out the free event ranged from families with children, people who showed up with their dogs, a local group home and seniors. All were welcome.

The club held its annual raffle with $605 raised to be donated to this year’s charity the Moose Jaw Humane Society.
