Flyers Soar Over Top Of Fillies

In what is described as “the most solid 60 minutes the girls have put in so far this season” the Milestone Flyers defeated the East Central Fillies 5 - 1 at home 5 -1 on Friday evening.

The game saw the Flyers dominate and the north division leading Fillies in a game that signaled to many that the Milestone team is a top five team in the combined north and south divisions in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League’s 18 A league.

The First Period saw the Leroy based Fillies open the scoring at the 10:07 mark on a goal by Ashley Baker assisted by Kaisten Ehlert.

The Flyers got onto the scoreboard at the 8:56 mark on a goal by Emily Quigley assisted by the former Moose Jaw Mavericks duo of Sidney Ellingson and Ember DuSomme.

The Flyers would take the lead at the 8:05 mark on a powerplay goal by Kalla Nicholas assisted by Ellingson and Kaleigh McCann. Nicholas first goal of the season turned out to be the game winner.

The First Period shots on goal were 18 - 4 in the Flyers favour.

The Flyers DuSomme would open the Second Period scoring a powerplay goal at 16:07 assisted by Ellingson and McCann.

The Flyers got the insurance marker at the 10:37 mark when Allison Duncan scored unassisted.

At the 9:55 mark DuSomme would round out the scoring with a powerplay goal assisted by Ellingson.

The Second Period shots on goal were 10 - 9 in the Flyers favour.

The Third Period saw no scoring but saw the Flyers go head to head with 5 shots versus 6 by the Fillies.

The Flyers next game is this Sunday as they visit the TS&M Gold Wings in Midale.
