Single Case Of COVID - 19 Detected At Westmount School

It may not be an outbreak, but the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has issued a letter informing parents of a single case of COVID - 19 at Westmount School and that a student was at the school while communicable.

In a letter to parents/guardians dated September 21st (pictured below) the SHA warns that the individual was at the school on September 14, 15 and 17th.

The letter also states that the “case and/or parent/guardian is being asked to notify their close contacts directly…”

Although not officially announced the school has cancelled at least one extra-curricular activity - volleyball in response.

The letter asks all that anyone eligible to be vaccinated, if they have not yet done so, to get vaccinated.

The letter also reminds anyone entering schools to self-monitor for symptoms that indicate hey may have contracted the virus.

Premier Scott Moe has recently announced mandatory mask measures in all indoor facilities plus additional measures to help stop the spread of the COVID - 19 Delta variant which he blamed squarely on people who have so far refused to be vaccinated.

The Prairie South School Division started off the school year without requiring masks at their schools but has since rescinded that policy and made it mandatory to wear masks at its Moose Jaw elementary schools effective September 13th due to the rise of Delta variant cases in the Moose Jaw area.
