New Street Signs In Process
“Sign, sign everywhere a sign blocking out the scenery and unreadable so wasting my time…” may have been the lyrics to the Five Man Electrical Band’s signature song if they had hailed from Moose Jaw and it is something that a councillor wanted to know about on Monday evening.
Asking a verbal enquiry Counicllor Heather Eby asked about the progress of a sign replacement program approved as part of the 2021 Civic Budget.
“During budget we approved a new sign replacement program I was just wondering if that is underway right now or what’s happening? I have been out of town a fair bit and came back today and noticed some signs that aren’t fixed so I am sort of thinking abut it and wondering where we are at?” Councillor Eby asked.
In response Darrin Stephanson, director of public works and utilities, said the project is a work in process.
“Yes the program is underway. However you won’t see any signs yet. All the preparation work has been done. So we have itemized the signs and put out a tender for the signs and they have been purchased so the installation will be occurring soon,” Stephanson said.
He said that the city has been slit into eight quadrants but was hesitant to say at the present time what area of the city the project will begin in.
