Buffalo Pound's Ski Chalet Being Converted Into Multi-Function Visitor's Centre
The former ski chalet at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park is about to breath new life into the park.
On Friday the Province announced the ski chalet, originally constructed in 1972, will see $1.1 million in renovations, converting it into a multi-purpose visitor’s centre.
The visitor’s centre will serve as a hub of interpretive programs at the park. The visitors centre will serve as a gathering point for park visitors, including hiking and biking enthusiasts.
"Buffalo Pound is a beautiful park with so much for visitors to enjoy," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said in a released statement. "The repurposed visitor centre will be a great addition, serving many purposes that will benefit a number of park users well into the future."
When completed in Summer 2022 the visitor’s centre will also include a coffee shop and kiosks for future businesses in the park.
The visitor’s centre will be the latest in upgrades to Buffalo Pound which also include a new swimming pool.
