Variations Of Concern And Inter-City Travel Close Sask Poly To In-Person Learning

With both the public and separate school boards suspending classes in-person learning until after the Easter break on April 12th due to the threat of COVID - 19 Variants Of Concern the other major learning institution in Moose Jaw has done the same.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic recently announced they would likewise be extending the temporary suspension of in-person learning at Moose Jaw and Regina campuses through to Monday, April 12, 2021. 

In a news release posted on their web-site Sask Polytech said not only was the decision made based upon the growing numbers of VOCs in both communities but it singled out the health order that is now in effect in Regina as another reason.

“As part of the Government of Saskatchewan's amendments to the public health order, travel is not recommended in or out of the Regina area unless absolutely necessary. Sask Polytech realizes that employees and students commute from Regina and area to Moose Jaw Campus for work and learning,” the release stated.

Sask Polytech will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide an update on when limited in-person learning on Moose Jaw and Regina campuses will resume. 

The learning institution recommends students look for updates as the situation is changing. At the present time the number of cases of VOC COVID cases in both communities is continuing to rise and it is unknown if the present public health order will be extended on April 12th.
