Advance Polls Equal 2020 As Byelection Set For Tomorrow

It is all down to the final voting day tomorrow Wednesday November 3rd as residents are set to select who will be the next mayor of Moose Jaw.

And if the advance poll numbers are an indication of the numbers expected tomorrow at the polls then the byelection turnout should be equal to the 2020 civic election.

The advance polls numbers in the byelection is almost equal to the number of advance poll voters who cast their ballots early in the 2020 civic election.

In the 2020 civic election 2.074 people participated in advance polls while in the 2021 byelection 2.011 voted in the advance polls.

Given the estimated number of eligible voters is estimated at 25,900 it means approximately eight percent of those eligible voted in the four days of advance polling.

For those who still have yet to vote the City has set up four polling stations all of which will be open tomorrow from 9 am to 8 pm.

The four polling stations are:

  • MJ Exhibition Convention Centre - 250 Thatcher Dr. E.,

  • Church of Our Lady - 566 Vaughan St

  • Cosmo Senior Centre - 235 3rd Ave NE

  • Minto United Church - 1036 7th Ave. NW

The City’s website www.moosejaw.ca has an interactive map which allows you to see which polling station you should vote at it is located on the City Government tab and then click 2021 ByElection.

You do NOT have to be vaccinated to cast your ballot and you MUST wear a mask to vote as per the provincial public health mandate requiring the wearing of mask in all public indoor spaces.

On election day the City will be offering free transit on its regular routes with the schedule extended to 8:30 pm to allow those who need transit the opportunity to vote. For further information click here

To speed the voting process the City is requesting voters to download, print and fill out a Voter Registration Form - but do not sign it.

The Voter Registration Forms may be located by clicking here.
