Work Continues On Cast Iron Water Main Construction As More Work Is Complete
Progress continued on Phase Five of the Cast Iron Replacement Program as yet another block was finished and paved on the east side of the city and the excavation work has yet to cross Saskatchewan Street West.
For the second Saturday in a row crews are out working on both areas reamaining to be completed in Phase Five.

Third Avenue NW - from Oxford Street West to MacDonald Street West
Work of this stretch of the project continued as crews have started to lay out temporary water lines on the final stretch from Saskatchewan Street W to MacDonald Street West.
Workers were busy on Saturday morning as they temporarily closed Oxford Street West for the day. The street intersection is set to be re-opened tomorrow.
Crews were out sweeping the area from Oxford Street W to Hall Street West as they prepare the stretch where trencing was done for paving.
The intersections of 3rd Avenue NW and Hall Street W and 3rd Avenue NW and Saskatchewan Street W remain closed for an unspecified time.
Stadacona Street East - Sixth Avenue NE to 9th Avenue NE
The 600 and 700 blocks of the work is now completed with the roadway paved including the intersections of Stadacona Street East and Seventh Avenue NE. as well as the intersection of 8th Avenue NE and Stadacona Street E is now paved and open.
The 800 block including the intersection of Stadacona E and 9th Avenue NE remains closed to traffic.

- Stadacona Street East from 6th Avenue NE to 10th Avenue NE – 790 meters
- Fairford Street East from Main Street to 2nd Avenue NE – 360 meters
- High Street West from Main Street to 3rd Avenue NW – 540 meters
- Third Avenue NW from Oxford Street West to MacDonald Street West – 670 meters
Additional work was approved after the work got underway.
- Second Avenue NW from Manitoba Street West to Fairford Street West - 335 meters
