Street Sweeping Starts Monday

If you are park your vehicles on the street you might want to pay special attention as it could save you $90 as the City of Moose Jaw is set to start their annual street sweeping campaign tomorrow.

The City will be erecting No Parking signs in the areas to be swept 72 hours prior to the sweeping, except in the Downtown business metered areas, and request vehicle owners comply to assist with the work.

The first week of street cleaning (April 22-26) will occur on Main Street North and downtown metered areas (2nd Avenue NW to 2nd Avenue NE/Manitoba Street to Ross Street), with cleaning taking place overnights (Midnight-6:00 a.m.). So there is a potential for those living or those Downtown in the early morning hours and parking on the street to impede the work.

Once the Downtown core is completed the street sweeping will move into the following areas over the next few weeks. Street cleaning in these areas will be during the day.

1. Roadways adjacent to high schools, Sask Polytech, 4th Avenue Thunderbird Viaduct (commonly known as the 4th Avenue Bridge) and 9th Ave SW/NW

2. Arterial and collector streets and bus routes

3. Residential areas:

a. North of Caribou St: 9th Avenue NW to 5th Avenue NE

b. South Hill (including Churchill Park)

c. Sunningdale

d. VLA areas

e. Caribou Street to Ominica Street: 5th Avenue NW to 16th Avenue NW

f. West of 9th Avenue NW: Caribou Street to Laurier Street

g. 4th Avenue NE to 11th Avenue NE: Oxford Street to Manitoba Street

Vehicles parked in the street while the sweeping takes place run the risk of a $90 parking ticket.

Street cleaning is done at least once per year for all roadways as an effort to keep our City beautiful for residents and tourists, the release stated.
