Mavericks Win In Balcarres Advance To Next Round

In what was a tight checking game with 14 combined penalties assessed against the two teams - each with 7 - the Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks were able to defeat the Balcarres Barracudas 1 - 0 and advance to the Third Round of the playoffs in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League action on Friday night.

Played in Balcarres the lone goal came at the 10:18 mark of the second period when Jesse Miekle assisted by Nikita Halyk.

Moose Jaw goaltender Sydnee Christmann stopped 25 Barracuda shots for the shutout, while the Mavericks had 24 shots on the Barracudas’ goaltender Phoenix Preston-Winder.

With the win the Mavericks take the best of three series in two games straight. Their opponent and next game in Round Three is unknown at press time.
