Former Bantam A Mavericks See First Bantam AA Action In Weyburn
Saskatchewan Female Hockey League game action may not be underway for the Moose Jaw Mavericks program but a trio from last year's Mavericks Bantam A southern Saskatchewan championship squad saw action on the weekend.
Playing for the Southeast Bert Baxter Transport Gold Wings, who are based out of Weyburn, the trio of Jasmine Kohl, Payton Copeland and Jessie Mielke, took to the ice in action against the Saskatoon Comets. Kohl and Mielke are both from Moose Jaw and Copeland is from Pense.
In game one on Saturday the Southeast squad found themselves down 3 – 0 but managed to outshot Saskatoon 10 – 4 to come back with two goals in a 3 – 2 loss.
Kohl assisted on both of the Southeast's goals.
In game two on Sunday the Southeast lost to Saskatoon 5 – 2 with Kohl netting her first goal in Bantam AA division play.
For anyone who would like to follow the Gold Wings they have an active Twitter account.
