Beyond Your Backyard - Find a Bat Just Call Batman

By Kimberly J. Epp

Bats work hard to pollinate our food and to keep our insect numbers down. We need bats, and there is never a need to fear them.

You can help the eight species we have in Saskatchewan by putting up bat houses for them to roost in over the Spring and Summer, and you can help the species that hibernate by NEVER entering a hibernation cave/area.

If you find any bats now or in the winter, PLEASE call the Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Saskatchewan (phone 306.242.7177) instead of putting any bats outside. That is a true death sentence.

They will advise you on what to do, and we do have a wonderful bat rehabber in Saskatoon.
