Halloween at the Library
Jordan Bosch
With Halloween right around the corner it’s time to indulge the spooky and macabre, and of all the avenues in which to do that in Moose Jaw, don’t forget the family and youth-friendly programs and activities the Library has to offer this October.
It starts with a movie double feature on Saturday October 13th of the 1984 classic Ghostbusters at 1:30 followed by the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot at 3:30, both in the Performing Arts Theatre. Admission is free and the popcorn is free.
But if that’s not for you and you have kids, bring them to the Monster Mash on Tuesday October 16th. From 6:30 to 8:30 there will be stories, crafts, music, games, snacks, and a Halloween costume contest. The Library Theatre will be playing Hotel Transylvania as well if anyone’s in need of monster inspiration or just a few good laughs. The next night, youth ages ten and up are invited to make Frankenstein Monster Pudding Cups in the upstairs Herb Taylor Room at 6:30 and then on Saturday the 20th, there will be Halloween themed childrens’ crafts in the morning from 10:30 to 12.
Finally, on Wednesday October 24th there will be a showing of Hocus Pocus in the Library Theatre, which like the Ghostbusters afternoon is hosted by the Library
Youth Department. However, anyone of all ages is welcome to these movie events. If you’re even just curious, they’re well worth checking out.
All of these activities are free, and a lot of time and effort is going into them to make them fun and interactive community events.
Routinely, the Library offers programs of all kinds, especially for youth and children. Perhaps Halloween is a good time of year to be introduced to them. In any case,
it’s a pretty great roster to keep up the haunting and aberrant spirits of the season.
