Mayor Wears Jersey Set For Saskatoon Journey
It’s a wager Swift Current’s mayor Al Bridal wouldn’t take and likely one Saskatoon’s mayor Charlie Clark wish he hadn’t.
But a Warrior’s jersey is set to be worn by Clark during Saskatoon’s next council meeting after the Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Saskatoon Blades 4 - 3 in the WHL’s eastern division championship.
“I would like to thank the Moose Jaw Warriors for the loan of this jersey,” Mayor Clive Tolley said during the public acknowledgments portion of Council.
Mayor Tolley would go on to state that the sweater would be making its way to Saskatoon where Clark would be wearing it.
During the April 22nd post Council news conference MJ Independent asked the Mayor if he was prepared to make a friendly wager for the mayor from the losing city to wear the winning team’s jersey at a future council meeting.
It’s close to an entrenched tradition that a wager involving wearing a jersey by the mayor of the losing team’s city happens between Moose Jaw and other Saskatchewan WHL teams when they meet in the playoffs.
