Councillor Asks Was Sledge Hockey Championships Profitable For The City

The 2023 World Sledge Hockey Championships may have helped Moose Jaw garner local, national and international attention but the question is, did the event make the City or the Moose Jaw Events Centre any money?
It was a question asked at Monday afternoon’s regular meeting of Council.
During the Enquiries section of the meeting Councillor Jamey Logan asked financially was the world championships a money maker for the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Logan asked the question saying he was remiss to ask at the question at the last Council meeting where the event was lauded as a success.
“The question I had and failed to ask that night was is did we make any money?” Councillor Logan asked.
“We were told event went really well and I’m curious to see if we made money. I’m wondering if we could get a report back to that effect.”

“ I know the report is coming between the change of the general manager. I know that we will be giving report,” city manager Maryse Carmichael responded.
Councillor Logan said he would be putting in a written request to see if the event was profitable for the Moose Jaw Events Centre and the City of Moose Jaw.
