Rising Fuel Costs Has A Councillor Asking Questions
The rapidly rising cost of fuel - which is now selling for over $2 per litre at every filling station in Moose Jaw - has at least one councillor asking questions and the City of Moose Jaw keeping a close eye on the situation.
Councillor Jamey Logan asked questions about rising fuel costs and the impact and what was Administration proposing to do about it.
“The fuel costs seem to be popping up over and over and I am just wondering what are we going to do about that. How do we solve it? It already looks like to be $300 grand based on what we budgeted. What is our plan moving forward?” Councillor Logan asked.
“We can’t cough up 30 percent more money than we anticipated so what are you going to do?” he asked.
City manager Jim Puffalt responded Administration was closely monitoring the situation and looking for cost cutting measures.
“Certainly fuel is a huge part of our cost of doing business and so we have to watch as closely as possible and take into account the option to reduce something else to try to offset those costs,” Puffalt said.
