No Stopping Anytime - Not No Parking - Signs To Be Refurbished
Faded out No Stopping signs - so faded and unreadable they fooled a City Councillor to apparently believe they are No Parking signs - will remain up on 9th Avenue NW as they will be receiving some tender loving care this Summer.
At the April 25th regular Council meeting Councillor Heather Eby asked an enquiry about the “No Parking” signs along 9th Avenue NW which have faded severely over the years they are now often unreadable.
In a written response Administration said the signs will be refurbished this summer but the signs need to remain up to allow the Moose Jaw Police Service to enforce the traffic restriction along 9th Avenue NW.
“The signs on 9th Ave NW must remain in place for the Moose Jaw Police Service to enforce these lanes as no parking zones. Upon inspection of the signs by the Department of Public Works and Utilities, it has been determined that they are in good condition except for the no stopping symbol that is faded. The no stopping symbol will be renewed on the signs this summer,” Darrin Stephanson, Director of Public Works and Utilities wrote in a report.
Councillor Eby said she was happy to see the signs will be refurbished this summer.
