City Still Waiting On CN For Main Street Repairs
It is an on going issue which has plagued Main Street North for months and that is when will they fix the south bound lanes of Main Street North where they cross the CN spur line.
In questioning from Councillor Crystal Froese about an estimated time to repair Main Street North near Canadian Tire city manager Jim Puffalt said he did not know. But it was all dependent on CN which operates at its own pace.
“We are working at it diligently with CN but as we have said a couple times (already) they work at their own schedule,” Puffalt said.
The issue has been raised by the City with the railway on numerous occasions, he said.
“Certainly with the number of times we have raised it you would think they would have done it and been done with us.”
The railway crossing has been a matter of contention for many motorists since early February when concrete barricades were erected blocking off the inner southbound lane at the CN crossing. The lane has been closed as it was too rough and the crossing posed a legitimate safety concern.
MJ Independent has received numerous complaints over the months regarding the roadway ranging from screaming about the City not doing its job right up to threatening to blockade the line or worse to get the road repaired.
We view the concerns raised as people simply expressing their frustrations on a necessary road repair which is well over six months old on a major thoroughfare.
