Council Gets Update On Money Spent On Local Media
It is an enquiry that was asked how much does the City spend for advertising with the local media? Not how much does the City spend on advertising leaving out the other print shops and suppliers within the city and beyond.
And a response that did not warrant any further questions by Councillor Dawn Luhning who requested the information.
Although it looks like a the last two years have seen an even distribution between the Moose Jaw Express and Golden West Broadcasting it needs to be noted the City is required by law to run legal ads in the local newspaper and not on the radio or on a web-site.
It could very well mean that - given the Moose Jaw Express’ rates - the City has mainly bought the required legal ads from the newspaper in 2019 and 2020 and then used the radio station and its related web-site for the promotional side of its advertising budget.
And sticking with full disclosure MJ Independent does not seek nor accept funds from the City of Moose Jaw. The only funding in the past two years has come from a grant we received to write a series of articles about the Saskatchewan grain trade for a major Ukrainian commodities trader and a decent reward from a firm in Germany.
