Citizen Lectures Council About Their Recent Remuneration Vote
After sitting through a Council meeting Don Dutchak was suppose to deliver a presentation called “Civic Electon and Civic Infrastructure” in the Public Forum or information portion of the meeting.
If Council was expecting to hear concerns about the state of the roads they were mistaken as Dutchak gave a short presentation about what he really thought about the recent raises and benefits Council had voted for the incoming Council to receive.
Dutchak decried not only the double percentage-wise raises but also the $500 monthly car allowance the next mayor is set to receive.
He asked what kind of person gets $500 a month to drive to work and what about giving the same to the employees as well.
Dutchak inferred if Council thought it was all justified that they were not living in reality.
“Then you guys aren’t living in the real world,” Dutchak said. “I just wanted to say what I thought about your raises.”
Council’s remuneration vote faced widespread criticism on social media and in mailed in presentations. Dutchak though is the only citizen who has come to Council and stated what he thought about the remuneration and benefit increases.
Because the presentation was given in the informational portion of the meeting Council was not asked to do anything but also could not question Dutchak about his views.
